Leadership

Paul White - Independent Chairman

Paul White

Paul White was born in Charleville and grew up in many towns across Queensland. He spent 17 years in the Queensland Police Service with his last posting as Officer in Charge of Mount Isa.  Upon leaving the QPS he worked in several executive roles with global mining companies during which time he completed an MBA. 

In 2011 he took on the role of CEO of the Brisbane Broncos, a position that he held for 10 years. Paul currently runs his own consultancy business specialising in strategy and leadership development and executive coaching across the resources industry. Paul has also held Director and Chair positions on a number of company Boards in the mining and resources fields.

Throughout his career Paul has been committed to giving back to the community and in particular for advancing educational and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, with this work getting him nominated in 2017 for Queensland’s Australian of the Year Award.

 

Ben Yaksich - Chief Executive Officer

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), Queensland University of Technology.

  • Graduate Diploma in Maintenance Management, Central Queensland University.

Ben Yaksich joined WICET in October 2015 and has been in the role of CEO since April 2016.

Ben is an experienced mining and metals industry executive with a record of delivering exceptional results in multiple commodity markets.  Ben’s experience encompasses leading large private business’s, management of large operations in remote locations, strategic planning and implementation, project development, asset management, materials processing and supply chain management. Prior to WICET, Ben worked at BHP for 21 years in several senior operational roles.

 

Nathan King - Chief Financial Officer

Nathan is a commercially astute leader with mining, airport, logistics, and banking experience.    He has held roles that require the formulation, execution, and monitoring of strategies to improve and transform businesses.  Nathan’s previous roles include Financial Controller at Rio Tinto, Business Systems Manager at Sydney Airport, and CFO of Lindsay Australia.  Nathan joined WICET in January 2019 and is responsible for the commercial, IM and financial operations. 

 

Alana Allard - General Counsel, People & Company Secretary

  • Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Commerce (marketing major)

Alana Allard was appointed to the role of Legal Counsel & Company Secretary in August 2016 after working as Legal Counsel at WICET since early 2014.

Alana is a legal professional with over 14 years in-house legal experience in the areas of building and construction, and specialised experienced in BCIPA and claims management. She has extensive knowledge and experience in relation to contract disputes, which has been critical to her role as Legal Counsel with WICET during the construction phase.

 

Roslyn Dalton - Terminal General Manager

    Roslyn is an experienced mining and processing industry leader with experience from mine to market, joining WICET in October 2024 and bringing a wealth of experience to the team.

    Roslyn has experience in operations leadership and has delivered positive results across all businesses she has worked in and led throughout her career. Roslyn’s experience includes regional and remote locations, strategic planning and implementation, decarbonisation, continuous improvement, business development, risk management and major hazard facilities.

     

    Trent Attard - HSE Manager

    Trent Attard was initially appointed to the role of Environment Manager during the construction phase in August 2012, and then transitioned to the role of HSE Manager in May 2015. 

    Trent is a result-orientated HSE Manager with nearly 20 years’ experience in the consultancy, construction and port industries.  He has a proven ability to identify business opportunities and provide the management and technical expertise to a team, focusing on the disciplines of health, safety, environment, risk, cultural heritage, emergency response, security, compliance, and approvals.
